Canada/US - Day 15

So were on the final stretch, two of my collegues left today and we have been busy trying to fix most of those tasks that people always seem to save for the last minute. We started the day by attending a before work networking meeting at the local IT company, very annoying! Total waste of time - I cant believe how many people, all local company owners and decission makers that bothered showing up just to exchange business cards..
Tomorrow we will leave at around four, hopefully after having solved a few more problems.
My bags are packed and Im ready to go..

Canada/US - Day 14

Work was a breeze - really! everything seems to work so far - or people are just shy. Afterwards we went to Hooters where surprisingly it happend to be my 45'th birthday, even though I thought that it was at least a year away..
I had the 911 chilli chicken wings with a big boy American Ale and an even bigger hug from our waiter Carrie for goodbye. - not so bad. :-D

Canada/US - Day 12+13

Yesterday were ok, we finished up stuff on schedule, my two collegues went to Loincoln to watch some dirt track derby driving thingy, while I stayed behind with the finance guys to finish up a few loose ends. Today Monday, D-day we went live with all the users on the new systems. Lots of work, primarily on getting the Sprint Blackberry Shiiite to work with the mail stuff, but everyting worked out and tonight we were taken to Alexanders steakhouse for biig steaks. i had a 18oz new york strip that was so juicy and tender, that were I not such a Butch fella i probably would have cryed a little.

Canada/US - Day 11

We worked again today! - nothing exiting happend until lunch, when the boss took us to a neighbouring classic car dealer/museum - Oh Boy! I need to win the lottery to bring this baby home!

When we finished work at 6 or so, we met up with a couple of collegues back at the hotel and went with them to a Kobe restaurant. That was pretty good food, ad decent entertainment as well. But who teaches those cooks that they must make so much noise when they prepare the dinner??

We were seated at a 'table' along with some college students that were out on their prom night, cute kids in their rented toxes and fancy dresses.

Canada/US - Day 9+10

The Internet at the hotel did'nt work yesterday.
We worked all day, Went to dinner at a mexican style family restaurant, with lots of noise and people and senior citizens and families and kids and college kids and noise. Went shopping at wall mart that is just next door to the hotel.
Today we worked all day, the boss came by and invited us to join him and his family to dinner at Alexanders, a place where we had to grill the meat ourselves. I chose the filet which was very tender and surprisingly jucy. My collegues both went a little overboard and had to give up - sissies.
Went to wall mart again bought a sixpack of RedBridge a nice ale that is.

Canada/US - Day 8

Im back in the USSA - or something to that effect.
The morning started after checking out with us waiting for the shuttle bus in a freezing 37 deg. farenheit (3 deg. Celc) then the long drive to the bridge where we crossed in to the US without any trouble at all.
The drive through Detroit was a little sad, its clear that the city is in some kind of crisis.
We flew in a small 48 passenger jet from pinnacle airlines tothe tiny Bloomington airport, where we were picked up by a collegue who had a rental car waiting for us.
He then took us to the hotel and after that to Logans roadhouse for dinner and some Red beer which I forgot the name of, but these red beers are not bad at all.
We have settled in at the hotel and are ready to start business tomorrow.

Canada/US - Day 7

It was the last day of the Canada leg of the trip. Tomorrow morning we leave for Bloomington. As per tradition there were a lot of last minute tasks here. And 3 additional collegues from denmark plus 4 from US came to join the seminar, and they had a couple of tasks for us as well.
All in all we feel that it went allright and look forward to the next site. We all went to Jack ASstor for dinner which was fun being so many collegues together.

Canada/US - Day 6

Today we started early in the rain - in order to be in the office when people clocked in. There were not to many problems though. We helped and expalined throughout the day and didnt have time for lunch, so we decided to tell the boss that we would leave "early" (at 4) in oder to go the the London Labatt brewery and join the guided tour just to be a little touristy on this trip.
It was a nice tour, awfully thin beer that budwiser stuff - but the Labatt 50 is not bad, also the Blue tastes somewhat like a proper beer.

Canada/US - Day 5

We had only a few things we wanted to do today, but as it turned out we were not able to do them remotly from the hotel, as we had originally planned. So off we went to the office again. And time flew - before we knew it the clock was 3 and we desided to take the backroads back to London, just to see something else.
Back at the hotel I went for a run while my collegues kicked back, as I returned one of them had become so tired that he had gone to bed for the night.
After my shower the other collegue and I went to Tony Romanos restaurant around the corner from here, to try his famous ribs.
So not quite the day we had planned.

Canada/US - Day 4

We were just pulled over by the OPP. On our way out of town heading back to London, my collegue who were driving mensioned that the light on the car were pretty tame, and just as he was looking for the light switch, the road narrowed in and he hit the grawel.
This were noticed by an OPP patrol car behind us and they drove up behind us and pulled us over and asked if we knew that we were driving without proper lights. Now my collegue were asked for his drivers licence and stuff which was pretty exiting because the picture is more than 20 years old and he has changed a bit on top of that he has changed his last name so its not the same on the passport and licence, and on top of that we came straight from dinner where we had each had a beer, so he had to blow in the meter as well.
How about that for an eiting evening.
Jobwise we are ok, we might have tomorrow off and perhaps we will drive up to the falls and do the tourist stuff.

Canada/US - Day 3

We started from the hotel in Lontdon after breakfast and drove in the van they rented for us, to the company in Strathroy for our first full day at the office.
As per tradition the folks back home had a lot of "important" jobs for us that we had to work our way through before we could get started on the things we came here for.
The day passed rather uneventfull, we dont have to struggle with language problems like we are used to this time. And the people aer nice and friendly So things are going allright so far.
We went to The Keg with a collegue and his wife this evening, for a nice steak dinner. I had the Prime rib with garlic mashed potatoes which was pretty good.

Canada/US - Day 1 & 2

That was one long jurney. I think I went 27 hours without sleep but we finally arrived at the hotel in London Ontario at around 6 in the morning, so we slept in till 10 o clock, before we left for the office and said hi to the people there.
Were a little groggy most of the day.
